This is one of my favorite knives. While technically manual opening, you can use the thumb stud or you can pull the AXIS lock, and it only takes a flip of the wrist to open and close. No liner lock to push over while you try to fold your blade. It’s light weight, ambidextrous and made in the USA. It’s as close to the perfect everyday carry knife (EDC) as it gets.
Benchmade is known for durability and edge retention, and I must say I agree. This blade stays sharp longer than any of my other folding knives. They even have a free sharpening service for life.
My son, a former Marine MP, used this knife for all kinds of tasks including stabbing and slicing through sheetrock! The KnifeWife used my Griptilian to cut up my food in a restaurant when their knives sucked. Hey- she’s a good woman and my fingers were busted at the time, so don’t judge me. (She’s done it with her Zero Tolerance knife too.)
It is pricey, (I think I paid about $130) but you will know where your money went. If you find a Benchmade Griptilian, in any style, for under a hundred bucks- get it! Check out the Mini Griptilian 556 too- it’s another favorite for dress pants.
