Just like it’s big brother, this is one of my favorite blades- in fact, I’ll call it a tie with the 551. You can use the thumb stud or the AXIS lock to open and close. There’s no liner lock, and since the Mini is small enough to fit in my palm while pulling the AXIS lock, opening and closing is a breeze, just a little flip of the wrist.
The Mini Griptilian is the sharpest knife out of the box I have ever received. I was slicing swatch cloth with only the weight of the blade, no pressure, completely effortless. I didn’t even have to hold the material down- I was impressed.
This is the ultimate EDC (Every Day Carry)- It’s light enough and small enough it can be carried in dress clothes, shorts, stuck in a boot, you name it. Benchmade blades are durable, easy to use and clean, and you can even send it back for sharpening for life. They come in several colors too; if you have the means and opportunity- get one! I found mine on sale for $99.
