I remember being in Colorado with Uncle Mark when one of his horses, tied to the trailer, got spooked and started bucking- he was going to hurt himself and damage the trailer. In a flash Uncle Mark whips out a knife and in one slash cut the rope, freeing the horse allowing him to settle down. It was a Buck 110, a true classic. If you had one of these as a kid, you were the coolest.
That was the start of our camping trip and I learned the importance of a good knife. I was around ten years old; you might say that was the birth of BladeFellow.
This comfortable, solid, heavy-duty, original lock-back has a hollow-ground blade that stays sharp. It’s more than a pocketknife- it’s a folding hunter. All the quality you’d expect from Buck. It has just one flaw, brass bolsters tarnish. They turn green and slimy in their leather holsters; however, everyday use will help alleviate that problem. (Changing to a polyester sheath may help as well.) If they made one with stainless steel- I’d buy it in a heartbeat. If you’re not sure what to get, try a Buck 110, maybe a 112 Ranger- both quality items at reasonable prices.
UPDATE- You can get a Ranger Pro 112 with Nickel Silver Bolsters! Review coming soon.
