This is in my top 3 for folders. The ZT0350 feels like a stout little fixed blade when open. It’s beefy and feels secure in the hand. Ken Onion did a great job designing the profile. When open, the flipper doubles as finger guard. The stud is more of a stop than for thumb opening, which is fine because it has a spring assisted flipper. The bummer of a spring assisted flipper is the lack of discretion when opening, you always get the audible SNAP when it clicks into place. But in a self-defense situation that may work to your advantage; like racking a shotgun!
The Zero Tolerance 0350 is a little brawny to carry in dress clothes; but in jeans, work pants, a coat or purse- no problem. At first it rattled when I walked, but with a little internet research I found the problem to be the spring, and I found a bunch of goofy solutions too. All you need is about one square inch of swatch cloth, or even toilet paper, folded over the spring. Problem solved.
The edge holds up quite well and is easy to sharpen. It is a little pricey, but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. (I think I paid about $125 on sale.)
The KnifeWife says it’s her favorite “stabby stabby.” She was so impressed with mine I got her the Tiger Stripe version (ZT0350TS – Also known as “the Gibbs knife” from that popular TV show.) She likes the spring opening, look and feel, and says it’s “wicked sharp.” It gives her a little extra confidence going out to her car at night. The only downer for her is that it is a little heavy.
